Early Political Activity

The Ekurhuleni IRASA document shows evidence of the party’s involvement in local elections as early as 18 May 2011, when IRASA-backed candidates were contesting ward councillor positions in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.

National Registration

Facebook evidence: A post dated February 10, 2019 indicates that “IRASA became a National Registered Political Party“.

This suggests IRASA transitioned from a local ratepayers association to a nationally registered political party in 2019 2021 – Coalition Government According to the Daily Maverick (September 7, 2021), IRASA was part of a stable coalition government in Ekurhuleni, unlike other coalitions that had dissolved.

National Elections

IRASA contested the 2024 National Elections, though it does not appear in the main national compensatory list reviewed, suggesting it may have had limited national representation.
